BD Summer Intensive and Deconstructed

so the summer intensive whizzed by…. sooo fast!  It was my intention to update in a regular fashion, but alas, I became embroiled in the day to day teaching and rehearsing. Surprising?!  I did manage to edit together 2 videos from the intensive and another of the performance will drop shortly .  So take a look.

As an Artistic Director, I found the two weeks incredibly cool.  I watched dancers try new movement styles, open their minds and bodies to various types of expression. Dancers from all over the U.S. and the World came. New friendships and connections were made.  This is when all of the hard work pays off and the only thing that remains is the feeling of camaraderie and shared purpose in creating art. It was awesome.

Summer Intensive Day 2

So we began the BD SI Monday and we have a fantastic group of students. 48 this week and about 44 who will do the deconstructed performance. We welcomed guest faculty Stephanie Nugent today and she gave a great class, company manager Tobi taught a great yoga class and Drea and Jenny got started on new work for the deconstructed performance. Its a whirlwind.

Summer Intensive 2009

So we are 1 week out from the intensive and only have a few spots left. It is going to be a great 2 weeks. Drea Sobke is coming to choreograph one of the orginal works on the students and Jennifer Backhaus is working with company member Kara Carter on the other premiere at the Deconstructed concert. Kara will be doing an original music composition for the the piece. We are very excited. Guest faculty include Damon Rago from LMU, Stephanie Nugent, Liz Maxwell, Kim Olmos, Monti Ellison,  Cloud Nine Yoga and more…. and…. Cyrus Parker Jeannette and Dale Merrill will help moderate the Deconstructed performances on July 17 & 18. It is a whos-who of So Cal dance! Come out and join us!
